How does reimbursement work?

Chiropractic care is recognised and reimbursed by basic health insurance (LAMal).
It is also covered by Swiss social insurance (accident, disability, military), and in some cases, by other insurance providers.
We recommend contacting your insurance provider directly to find out the specific terms of your coverage.

Becoming a chiropractor in Switzerland

A path of excellence towards a forward-looking medical profession

In Switzerland, chiropractic is one of the five officially recognised university-level medical professions. It combines medical knowledge, manual precision, and a patient-centred approach. The training is demanding, but it leads to an autonomous, respected, and socially valuable career.

A comprehensive and unique university programme

Chiropractic studies are integrated into the human medicine programme at the University of Zurich. Students undergo a rigorous six-year education combining medical theory with specialised practical training.

Practice-oriented training

From the first year, students benefit from practical courses in small groups. Manual techniques, as well as radiology, are explored in greater depth during the 5th and 6th years.

A balanced and people-focused medical career

After obtaining the federal diploma, a 2 to 2.5-year assistantship allows for further clinical experience.
Working hours are stable, with no night shifts, ensuring a healthy work-life balance.

The Association’s Committee

The Association of Chiropractors of Geneva is led by a committee of dedicated chiropractic professionals.
Together, they represent the profession at the cantonal level, foster collaboration among members, and promote high-quality care for the Geneva population.
